How memorial hockey brings the Alpena community together in Heather’s name, and a record of past events drawn from public sources.
A memorial tournament does several things at once. It gives friends and teammates a way to remember someone together, on the ice where they knew her. It gives adult players a reason to lace up for a cause. And it turns a weekend of games into support for the kids who will carry the sport forward.
For the foundation, memorial events are both a tribute and a practical source of community support for youth hockey in the Alpena area.

Following March 2021
An adult coed hockey tournament in Alpena, in which Heather had been the winning goalie and MVP in its first year, was dedicated to her memory and her love of the game after she passed away in 2021.
